LEAN & Learning Network for Manufacturers

The LEAN & Learning Network (LLN) for Manufacturers brings together senior management and owners of manufacturing firms for an invigorating exchange of information, ideas and insights related to the LEAN manufacturing process and upgrading essential skills in the workplace.

Members meet quarterly in facilitated peer groups of 10 to 12 members, from non-competing companies, and also receive 41 training days per year. The peer group model ensures a high level of commitment and accountability. The purpose of these quarterly board meetings is to provide strategic direction to the participating company’s LEAN journey. This cohort model is effective both in terms of implementation and cost.

Who Should Join

Participants come from various manufacturing companies and backgrounds but they share some common values:

  • They know that continuous learning is necessary and that learning from peers is very effective and efficient;
  • They know that they don't know it all when it comes to LEAN methodologies and that they can benefit from the experience and expertise of other manufacturing executives;
  • Success in LEAN implementation requires workplace skills upgrading for employees; and,
  • They demand a high return on their investment of time and money.

Member Testimonial

"Ten years ago, I was VP, manufacturing, at Xantrex, and we thought we were good. We knew there was potential for improvement. As we joined the LEAN consortia then, we quickly realized that some others were damn good. We had to move a lot faster. The consortia definitely helped us close the gap. Looking at today's reality, I am sure that people at GM have said they improved a lot over the last 20 years. They did. But that was not fast enough. I have been in many industries since I left Xantrex. The imperative for improvement is greater today than 10-20 years ago, in any industry." - Louis Belanger, PDG Mobility
