CME BC Annual Stakeholders' Dinner
For the past 15 years, over 150 leaders of industry including senior executives from the manufacturing and exporting sectors, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, MLAs and key Crown Corporations meet to discuss the importance of manufacturing and crucial issues of the sector in BC to help develop a strategic plan.
This CME event has provided senior executives in the manufacturing community with an opportunity to speak directly with provincial policy makers to help them better understand the critical importance of maintaining a healthy and vibrant manufacturing and exporting sector in BC. Past attendees at this annual event enables BC Ministries to learn more about the manufacturing industry—and in turn manufacturers are able to learn more about each of the Ministries and what they can and cannot do.
The dinner provides great exposure to both parties along with an evening of positive business networking. The ministries have found this dinner format increasingly valuable as it provides each government representative with an opportunity to discuss some of the key issues facing the manufacturing and exporting sectors over a multi-course dinner which sees government representatives take turns at each table with the arrival of each course. CME BC members become a natural conduit to government which gives them an opportunity to test some of their public policy thinking and responses, within a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
"This event provides a great platform to network with our key contacts in the manufacturing and exporting sector. Each year I look forward to the candid conversations and unique rotational format, which allows me to talk and exchange ideas with a large number of people."
- Doug Konkin, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources Operations (2013)
"The Deputy Ministers' Dinner is unique. I can think of no other event that affords such a relaxed, informal, pleasant opportunity for engagement with the various Deputy Ministers. This is a must attend event."
- Betty Lou Pacey, Governance Chair of British Columbia Electrical Association Membership Chair IESNA - Vancouver, Past Chair of the Board Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters of British Columbia (2015)
