CME British Columbia Committees
CME British Columbia invites all members to participate in our board committees.
This an opportunity to contribute your valuable insights and expertise in support of B.C.'s manufacturers and exporters and ensures your voice is being heard. We currently have three committees:
- Membership & Marketing Committee
- Policy Committee
- Programs Committee
Each committee will support a core business line of CME British Columbia This means sharing guidance and advice, providing some degree of challenge and oversight, as well as assisting with activities and initiatives.
The committees will also be one of the primary sources for filling future vacancies on CME British Columbia's Board of Directors. If you are interested in being a Director of CME British Columbia, serving on a committee is an opportunity to get to know us more and start making an impact!
About the committees
Membership Engagement and Marketing Committee (MEMC)
If you are passionate about sales and marketing, this is the committee for you! The membership and marketing committee will support CME's membership value and marketing objectives. It will support the association's efforts to attract potential members directly and through broader business networks by developing and implementing membership recruitment and retention action plans. This committee will also recommend to the Board any messaging or marketing campaigns to improve awareness of CME and emphasize the importance of manufacturing to the provincial economy; recommend to the Board changes to CME British Columbia's service offerings to deliver better value to members; and review membership growth.
Policy and Public Affairs Committee (PPAC)
If you feel that we need better policies at the municipal, provincial and federal level please join and contribute to this committee. You will work with colleagues to help engage the membership to identify emerging municipal, provincial and federal policy and legislative issues that will negatively impact manufacturers and exporters. The committee will develop and approve and annual proactive policy and advocacy work plan and recommend to the Board strategies to respond to policy issues. Committee members will work closely with staff to advance and defend the interests of manufacturers and exporters including liaising with government officials and media.
Programs and Training Committee (PTC)
This committee is our “business development” committee. Working closely with the CME British Columbia team, it will review the issues and hot topics raised by the other two committees and work on creating, implementing and subsequently providing oversight to new “products” such as funded programs, training and other educational initiatives. This will include the development and delivery of programs related to peer-mentoring, training and education, heath and safety, and skills development for Members. This could include working alone or in partnership with other associations or levels of government to tackle common issues. The committee will also take the lead on approving an annual strategic plan with an inventory of available programs as well as a calendar of events, including performance targets. At the end of the year the committee will review program participation, member satisfaction and cost-effectiveness.
