About Carl St-Laurent

In 2014, Carl St-Laurent joined the Vancouver team of the Trade Commissioner Service of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) to cover the Advanced manufacturing technology sector. He is co-located with Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters British Columbia to provide client service to Canadian companies fostering international expansion. 

Carl joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in 2008 after serving nearly 15 years providing strategic advice to government and serving Canadian businesses in search of global trade opportunities.  During the past 6 years, Carl has worked in a variety of roles including attracting investments to Canada and strengthening the position of Canadian companies in Northern Asia. Prior to his work at DFAIT, he worked for the Canadian Tourism Commission and Industry Canada supporting business development programs and advancing policy for Canadian businesses in Ottawa. Carl has experience conducting trade missions to Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia on behalf of manufacturing clients and worked abroad in Singapore providing consulting services on strategy and analysis for Multi-National Enterprises (MNE’s) in the region and the Economist group. Carl has an International MBA degree from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from HEC Montréal.
